Drilling projects fail in the seams — between operations, finance, legal and the contractor, where nobody owns the risk until it has already cost the well money. This programme applies sound project and risk management principles to drilling operations through an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach spanning operations, personnel, administration, finance and legal functions. The focus is the issues that decide whether a drilling project runs efficiently, safely and cost-effectively: cost versus value, contract models, planning and design, tendering strategy, project finance, supply chain, reporting and close-out. The cohort finishes able to apply these principles inside an asset or project team and manage identified risks to increase value.

Frequently asked
Who should attend the drilling project and risk management course?
Drilling managers and superintendents, asset and general managers, project managers and controllers, and finance managers supporting drilling operations. The programme takes an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach spanning operations, personnel, administration, finance and legal functions — the seams where drilling projects actually fail.
What decisions does the programme prepare participants to make?
The issues that decide whether a drilling project runs efficiently, safely and cost-effectively: cost versus value, contract models that allocate risk where it belongs, planning and design, tendering strategy, project finance, supply chain, reporting and close-out with HSEQ management systems intact and lessons captured.
Can the course be tailored for our asset or project team?
Yes. In-house editions can be tailored to your drilling programme, contract models and project organisation, and BIZENIUS delivers in English and French. Sessions run on a rolling calendar with dates confirmed on request; fees and quotations are provided on enquiry.
Who teaches this
Practitioners, not presenters.
Led by engineers and managers who have held operating, maintenance, safety and project accountability in oil and gas, mining and power, and who hold the technical and safety qualifications they teach towards. They bring plant, field and project experience into the room, across the full lifecycle from exploration to closure.
What the bench brings
- Offshore construction, drilling and FPSO safety
- Recognised oil and gas safety certificates
- Permit-to-work, commissioning and turnaround safety
- Incident investigation and fire safety
- Large programme and portfolio management
- Business analysis, requirements and process design
Where they have practised
Current and former practitioners — people who hold the seat today alongside those who have held it.
Sectors: Oil & gas · Manufacturing & industry
Regions: Africa · the Middle East · Europe · Asia · the Americas
How they teach
- Plant, field and project case studies
- Incident and emergency scenario exercises
- Group exercises on real technical decisions
- Exam-style knowledge checks and quizzes
- A personal action plan
Cohorts are kept small so every exercise is worked on the participants’ own situations — in person or live virtual.
